Converted Carriage House
Client - Abid Chaudry
-
We were tasked with the transformation of a 3-story carriage house to reflect our client's personality, aesthetic, and lifestyle in the location of our choice.
Abid Chaudry is a real client that I worked with over a span of 3 months. He is a Boston transplant who lived in Los Angeles for 7 years. He had an empty apartment in Charlestown with a collection of beautiful family heirlooms that inspired me for this project.

This converted carriage house design is inspired by the national motto and guiding Principles of Pakistan, which are Faith, Unity, and Discipline. These guiding principles are symbolic of the client’s desire to feel connected to his culture as well as exist in a space where he can live, work, worship, relax and entertain in a cohesive yet clearly defined environment. Faith, Unity, and Discipline will be symbolized through the subtle architectural elements found in Pakistani homes, various motifs, and bright colors found in contemporary artwork and pop culture. Cultural elements combined with the client’s westernized modern aesthetic will facilitate a harmonious dwelling emphasized in tradition.
